a good grounded long antenna should give you good range ,how ever it depends on your raido and how much power you have on transmitting .i have a wilson 5000 magnet mount ,with a super star 158EDX radio and i talk about 10 to 15 miles on a bad day a good day around 9pm in wilmington DE .i can reach out about 25 to 30 miles on CH 19 ..and thats 12 watts . now if i want to really get out i turn it up to 25watts same antenna ,turn up the power mike ,. go to ssb upper or lower band and i talk to Texas ,PR, most southern states with no problem on a clear night .
The main thing to remember for CB radio antennas is that taller antennas will work better. If this is for a vehicle, select a tall antenna where at least 50 percent of it will be above the roof line. You will have the best range this way.
Wilson's Antennas company offers the highest performing CB Antennas to customers. This includes Base Load Antennas, Trucker Antennas and Fiberglass Antennas.
Sure, why not.
Using a better antenna and coax, and having the SWR tuning properly done will increase your range. I'd recommend finding a reputable CB shop for your antenna, coax, and SWR tuning.
There called 102" whips!
They use Citizens' Band Radio (CB) to communicate with other truckers on the road. The long antennas give them better reception and transmission.
The CB antenna is made for a limited band of frequencies and the VHF is a wide band antenna made for higher freqs. A CB antenna will not make a good tv antenna. A CB ant. is mounted on the vertical and tv ants. are mounted horiz. in the USA. VHF antennas are much smaller as they are for higher frequencies. Usually, they have many elements (rods) and will go from long in the back to short in the front. Certain CB antennas (beams) are mounted horizontally, but all of the elements are roughly the same length - and about twice as long as a VHF antenna. The elements on a horizontal CB antenna are roughly 18 feet from end to end.
The length of an antenna is based on what frequency it is designed to send or receive. The higher the freq. the shorter the antenna. For instance, cell phone antennas are very short while AM radio antennas are long. CB antennas are 18 feet long but there are many exceptions where people have tried to design shorter versions that will still work well.

An antenna is for radio reception. Some antennas are visible and usually mounted on the front right side fender. Some antennas back in the eighties were used for car telephones and CB radios and were not installed by the factory. Most remote starting features and some burglar alarms also utilize antennas. Some radio antennas were imbedded in the windshield
Generally more watts on a CB antenna doesn't mean more range. On average, a typical CB antenna takes in 4 watts before damage occurs. Watts is the power source not the range of signal.
the serial number range of the cowboy commemorative rifle is CB-1 thru CB-27549.
