Typically a child will need about 12-15 immunizations by 12 months depending on the schedule they are receiving them. Contact your county health dept. and see how much they charge. My county health dept. charges $10 a shot for immunizations and flu shots whether or not you have insurance. If you have Medicaid it is free. Also some pediatricians set up immunization times on certain days where you can go just for that reason and you don't pay for a doctor's visit.

Answeri live in Canada it is free AnswerAlthough the actual shots ARE FREE in Canada. we are ALL paying for them thru our income taxes, the GST and sales taxes, as well as taxes on gasoline, beer and alcohol and tobacco. So YES the shots are free here, but not really.

Immunization in government hospitals are normally free. However, if it is a private clinic, immunization usually ranges from $400 - $500.

This is the biggest ripoff I have seen in all the bills I got for the birth of my daughter. We are paying over $816.00 a visit to the Ped. Actually, my health insurance provider is paying $816.00, I am paying $89.00 on top of that. She has had two visits, each with five shots and the doc has charged us almost $2000.00!!! Remember, this is for routine shots. The second visit was not even with the doctor, it was with a nurse practitioner but still cost over $900.

Thankfully our daughter is perfectly healthy and we have had no extraordinary costs. Still, the overall expense is knocking on 10k to our health insurance and about $3K to us.

The cost of immunizations for a newborn can vary from case to case. There are, however, special programs funded by the state, that make it free or low cost.
