Dental crowns are made of porcelain or metal and can be used to cover the entire tooth or only a portion of it. Porcelain crowns are made of white or light-colored porcelain, while metal crowns are usually made of silver or gold. Dental crowns are used to cover a tooth when it has been broken, to replace a missing tooth, or to restore a tooth that has been badly damaged. Dental crowns are typically made in a dental lab, but can also be made by a dentist in a dental clinic.
There is no product called cometic dental insurance. Dental insurance generally excludes any procedure that is done for costmetic reasons. That said, crowns are not usually cosmetic but to restore the function of the tooth and would be covered. In most dental plans, crowns are covered at 50%. So you will pay half of the cost of the procedure at the discounted rate negotiated by the insurer with the dentist. The exception to payment for cosmetic procedures are discount dental plans which get you a discount on all procedures. The difference is that in a discount plan you pay all of the cost; the plan pays nothing.
Crowns do cost actual money. The packages as of March 2011 are as follows: 2500 crowns $5.00 5000 crowns $10.00 13750 crowns $25.00 30000 crowns $50.00 60000 crowns $80.00 The actual price per crown varies depending on the size package you are purchasing.
Dental crowns may be used by dental professionals to help improve the appearance of unhealthy teeth. They are also used to repair or cover a partially damaged tooth.
Brush them lightly, putting so much pressure on them or brushing hardly will cause harm. Dental crown safety is a concern of many people. Well dental crowns are safe and it depends on the kind of treatment which is done and procedure followed by the dentist to put dental crown in your mouth. Along with that, after care and precautions matters a lot!
I HAVE BEEN GOING TO DENTAL ASSOCIATES AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING CROWNS ON MY 4 FRONT TEETH. I HAVE NO BACK TEETH TO CHEW ON AND MY GUMS ARE STARTINT TO GET SORE, I AM WONDERING IF I COULD BE A CANDIDATE FOR UPPER IMPLANTS. I HAVE TOO MUCH GUM TISSUE ON MY UPPER LIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO HAVE IT REMOVED BEFORE I HAVE THE CROWNS. THE COST FOR THIS IS GOING TO BE OVER $4500. I WOULD LIKE TO GET ANOTHER OPINION ON THIS AND CONSIDER DENTAL IMPLANTS. ritaspaltholz@hotmail.con
it is free unless you want membership or crowns.
If you are looking for a dental plan, you should find out the cost and what kind of coverage is available. Some insurances cover cleanings only and others will also cover root canals and crowns.

Metallic dental crowns don't suit visible tooth for aesthetic reasons. Gold dental crowns are excellent for back of the mouth teeth.
