I have seen slugs in our area (Seattle) that are barely visible (tiny) and others 8" long and as big around as my thumb. So, it can vary greatly. I would not like to have the slime on my postal scale or I'd weigh one for you.

Slugs are herbivores. They eat plant materials, not meat. The slug is about the size of your finger so how could it eat meat? Think about it. They would be the ones getting chewed up, not the other orginasm.
You can check it's ID. I'm not aware of any reliable field test for age. Size is not simply a function of age contrary to popular opinion. Some of the older salamanders I have seen have skin that looks "puffy", but that could be a condition not related to age.
