Well full grown yorkies should NOT be over seven pounds. I do not now about tea cup yorkies though.
Hi there im gonna be really nice about it but disagree with your answer! My yorkie weights 8lb and my moms yorkie is 10lb both yorkies are happy active dogs and certainly not over weight. my moms yorkie is longer and taller than mine and has much bigger teeth than mine too!! Originally yorkies were much heavier than the yorkies that you see today and typically weighted 14lbs!! also depending on which dog book/web site you look at the answer can differ too!!
The correct answer is:
It also depends on if it's purebred or a "toy" or "Teacup" breed. Toys ad Teacups are not pure-breeds, but are actually the runts being bred down to make them small. The Toy and Teacup breed is unhealthy and do not have the same lifespan as a Purebred Yorkshire. My Yorkshires will range from 3-7lbs. They are Pure German lines, unlike the impure breed being sold stateside. If your Yorkshires are larger than this, they are more than likely the largest dogs being pared to mate and are not a purebred show quality dog. This does not mean they are not a purebred, just that they are larger than normal.
how much do yorkies weigh?
My yorkie, Maximus, weighs 9 lbs. Your yorkie is usually supposed to weoght about 11-12 lbs. Ask your vet for more details.
but most weigh a few ounces if they a teacup but if not a teacup they should weigh up to about 6-9 lbs. but some where between a few ounces to about 9lbs. depending on the size ( teacup, tiny, regular, small)
___________
Edit:
A reputable breeder will strive for a mature weight between 4-7lbs. The AKC standards state that a Yorkie must not exceed 7lbs. My Yorkie almost 5 years old and he weighs 6.3lbs.
Do not go for any Yorkies being labeled as "tea cup," "miniature," or anything of the sort. This size is achieved by breeding high risk Yorkies which have very fragile bones and numerous health problems. On occasion a reputable breeder may have a puppy from a normal sized dogs, but they do not advertise them as "tea cup" puppies. Be wary of "standard" Yorkies as well as these can be falsely advertised and may end up weighing 15-20lbs.
A good rule of thumb is that a puppy at 12 weeks will double it's weight when fully mature. A puppy at 8 weeks will about triple it's weight by maturity.
