Well it all depends on what the rank is. First off I need to say it's not enough. I'm sure there has been some cost of living allowances since I got out in 97' but as an E5 / Sgt. married living off base with two children I was making about $23,000. This is certainly not what you'll get for living on base or if your not married. Being a Marine is certainly not about the money at this point. It's about serving the country, but with that being said all military personal are way under paid especially when there are football players making millions for throwing a ball. It depends on how long they have been in and what their rate (rank) is.
