How much does a Storyboard artist earn? |
[Edit] |
Independent Hollywood movies will pay half what a major Hollywood movie will pay. The output expected will be the same.
Low Budget non-Hollywood movies pay 1/4 of what a major Hollywood movie will pay. Often the people involved have regular jobs and the movie is made over the course of many weekends. You can have some time to do your work and output will be lower. Not always, but often.
Ultra Low Budget non-Hollywood movies that refuse to hire unionized workers will pay you with a hot meal. Well, it might not even be hot. It might not even be a real meal. Just a bunch of rocks the "producer" found on the side of the road. Hehe. Never work for "deferred pay" or any such nonsense. Storyboarding is very hard work and if you have talent - make sure to get paid for it. Even if it's just $1,000 for the entire project.
By the way, these numbers are just what I know from actual storyboard artists I've met and talked to. The numbers could be off a little bit here and there, but generally I think they are in the correct ballpark.
