Most suits of armor weigh 150 to 225 pounds. ... Even with only half the armor, we're still talking 75 pounds of rather cumbersome weight. ...

The standard armour worn on a field of battle was around 55-65 pounds.

Heavy yes but not so heavy that the knight could not fight. Jousting suits were heavier (perhaps 100ish pounds) but were never meant to be used in battle.

The lightest armour whold have weighed 30kg and the heavyest about 50 kg which is half of the marching order of a modern day Royal Marine Commando, and it is spread over the Entire body thus it would feel lighter.

Jousting armour was often exceptionally heavy, and developed as an entirely different type of armour to practical battle, or "field armour". As the joust was a sport with specific rules and application, armours were developed solely for the one attack it would encounter, and designed to keep the wearer safe, not to protect the wearer while being able to fight and move.

A modern equivalent would be to compare a soldier's body armour and helmet, with the far thicker body armour and helmets worn for bomb disposal.

In the 14th and 15th centuries, the armours for the joust could often weigh close to 50 kilogrammes / 100 lbs, and comprised of a number of defenses designed solely for the sport:

the armour as a whole was asymmetric; jousts were normally run with a protective barrier with riders on opposing sides, to prevent the riders accidentally crashing into each other. As a result, all lance strikes would come from the right side, and this was protected with much heavier armour.

Helmets were made far thicker, and with deep, narrow visors which only allowed a very narrow slit to look through. the left-hand side of the face might well have holes in it, to allow the wearer to breathe easier, but the right-hand side was kept completely smooth, so there were no holes for a lance to catch on.

Arms likewise, were significantly different, with the right arm sometimes being made from a single peice of metal without any articulation in the elbow at all, and the shoulder on the right side was covered by a number of plate sections similar to shields, called the ecranche, and the manifer.

The right left was heavily armoured, whilethe left leg was often almost bare, protected by the body of the horse.

In the 16th Century, armour began to change, and field armours were developed which allowed the wearer to add extra sections, or replace parts, to convert the armour into jousting armour. these were called "exchange peices", and were similar to those parts on older jousting armours - specially made thicker peices, and rigid sections.

All these peices added to the weight and strength of the armour, to keep the jouster safe from harm. Unfortunately, many of the myths of knights in armour - such as the idea they could not stand up again if unhorsed, like a tortoise on its back, or that armour was incredibly heavy - stem from mistakes made by Victorian collectors, who sometimes mistakenly thought that such sporting armour was actually used in battle. the truth is that field armour was far lighter, at as little as around 22kg / 45lbs, and much more mobile.
