How much does a manager at enterprise rent a car make?

[Edit]

Depending on the size of your branch (number of cars you have), the number of assistant managers, manager assistants you have and overhead IE: how much your office pays in rent, utilities etc. a Branch Manager typically makes between 45-65k per year, working from 7:30-6:30 M-F.

Now, all of this is possible if you can survive on 25k-32k per year while working 45-60 hours per week, plus a Saturday. This is when you are a "management trainee" After a few months of scamming people to purchase damage waiver (which by the way is a requirement to have a certain percentage of customer purchasing this pure profit item) you then progress to Assistant Manager, where you can make a few extra thousand dollars per year. After you've spent years as a Branch Manger, and you have an opportunity to become an Area Manager, you can expect to make much more, in the neighborhood of 65-75k. You must be an Area Manager for a while, then the next step is a City Manager, where the money begins to get serious, about 100k or more. If you pass that, you become an RVP or Regional Vice President, and good luck to you there. At this point, you should be working for ERAC for 10 or more years, but the money is huge.

The bottom line is that the turnover for a management trainee is 50-60 percent. Not many people want to work for peanuts and work as many hours as a doctor. In addition, not many people want to wash cars in a suit and tie for their living.

I will say one good thing about Enterprise; if you reach at least the Branch Manager position, you really do learn how to run your own business. This is the reason that Enterprise looks very attractive on your resume to perspective employers, that...and the fact that they know the hours you worked to get there.

I spent 7 years as and employee, and finished my "sentence" as a Branch Manager, cashed out my profit sharing and hit the bricks. You really need to be dedicated, and get very lucky to progress further than the Branch Manager position with Enterprise. In retrospect, I would do it over again, because I reached the Branch Manager positioin very quickly (2 1/2 years) and was making 70k at age 25. Not so bad right?
That being said, your social life suffers, your propensity for becoming an alcholic rises as EVERYONE drinks like crazy at ERAC and you have no personal life what so ever.

I hope that answers your question. Good luck to you, and if you decide to start your career there, make it a short one please!
