That varies greatly from state to state. It also depends upon the type of investigation you're conducting and whether you're working as a sub-contractor or as a sole proprietor. For example, I'm in middle Tennessee and own an investigative agency. I charge $70 per hour, which is probably on the high side of average for our area. I pay my licensed investigators between $25 - $40 per hour, depending on their level of experience. I have a friend in Kentucky that only handles workers comp investigations and he charges a flat $50 per hour and pays his subs $30.
