Currently 1 ounce of Beluga caviar is about $200. However it is banned from entrance into the United States.

Beluga caviar is fairly expensive. An ounce normally goes for about $150 and a pound runs about $2400. Markyscaviar.com is a good place to get Beluga.

Caviar is a super fancy food and is very expensive because its more expensive to make. Unlike artificial foods which cost less because they are factory built and less expensive to create.

What are the things that you need to know before you buy Caviar?

First, one should consider the budget if one wants to buy caviar. Expect that it will cost anywhere from $9 up to $125, depending on the caviar type. Buy caviar only in high end stores and do not buy caviar in local supermarkets. When you buy caviar, another important thing to know is to look for the word "Malossol" on caviar's tin. This term is a good indicator that the caviar is lightly salted and is of high quality. One last tip is do not judge a caviar by its price. The most expensive and rarest caviar does not always mean that it tastes better.

What do you think has a greater effect on the consumer price index a 10 percent increase in chicken or a 10 percent increase in caviar?

Chicken. Most people do not buy caviar. So the total amount spent on chicken is much greater than the total spent on caviar (even though caviar is more expensive). Therefore, in terms of the basket of consumer shopping, chicken is much more important had has more weight in the price index. This means an increase in the price of chicken will have a much greater impact on the index as the same percentage increase on caviar.

What are the different types of caviar?

Caviar is categorized into types based on the origin and processing method. There is Russian caviar, Iranian caviar and American Caviar. Malossol, salted caviar, pressed caviar and pasteurized caviar are different types of processed caviar.
