For US schools:

Almost all chiropractic schools in the US are private and not state subsidized. Chiropractic school is usually divided into 10 trimesters. At about $7-8,000 per trimester, the cost of your chiropractic education comes out to be about $70-80,000. But considering the course load of a chiropractic student, you cannot really work to pay your bills. Therefore, most chiropractic students will end up borrowing the maximum each trimester, which is about $15,000. That then comes out to be about $150,000 in student loans just to get through chiropractic school. Some schools do a quarter system or a semester system, but the end result is the same, at least $150,000 in student loans by the time you are done. Add in your undergrad loans and you will probably be at the max for student loans, $180,000, or even more.

For a Canadian School:

The chiropractic school in Canada is also private and not government subsidized. Canadian Memorial Chiropractic COllege offers a 4 year program, and tuition costs $21,000 per year (as of 2010). Thus, a student should expect to pay around $84,000 in tuition to complete the chiropractic program.

For comparative purposes, medical school at University of Alberta, which is subsidized by the government, costs $12,000 per year, and totals $48,000 for tuition after 4 years of training.

Another user said:

In 2011, tuition at most chiropractic colleges in North America is approximately $22,000 per year over four years, about $85,000 over the whole program. In addition there is cost of rent, food, books and supplies, etc.

With all the expenses considered, it is estimated that it takes about $150,000 to complete chiropractic college.

How much college and what courses are required to become an osteopathic physician?

There are no courses specifically needed to become an osteopathic physician, but to get into most medical schools, you have to complete (and do well in) core science courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, etc. Typically, you have to earn a bachelor's degree in undergraduate college, which usually takes about four years although some people manage to get it done in three. After that, you have to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and get into osteopathic medical school and finish four years of osteopathic medical school to earn the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree to become an osteopathic physician.

What is osteophatic medical school?

Osteopathic medical school is a type of medical school in the United States where a student attends medical school for four years and, upon completion, earns the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, like Doctors of Medicine (M.D.) are complete physicians allowed to apply for licensure, attend residency to specialize in any medical field, sit for board certification examinations, etc. The difference is that in addition to the standard medical curriculum shared with those who go to M.D. medical school, students at an osteopathic medical school also receive 300-500 hours of additional training in a form of manual therapy known as osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).
