The cost of a chiropractic license is a bit difficult to measure. In order to obtain a license, you must complete a doctoral program and an internship, and in the United States, pass 4 parts of the National Board exams, each of which have multiple subjects.
At Palmer College of Chiropractic (the first chiropractic school in the world) and Parker University, the doctoral program is split into ten 4 month trimesters (three terms per year), and the tuition and fees per term is around $11000. Other expenses not included. Each part of the national board examinations costs several hundred dollars, and there is an optional Physical Therapy board that most chiropractic students opt to take as well. Many students pass these exams the first time, but if you don't you have to pay the fees each time until you do.
You will be required to purchase textbooks, lab materials, diagnostic equipment, etc. while in school as well.
During my orientation, we were told to expect to incur around $180,000 to $200,000 in student loan debt for our education, assuming that we would be borrowing for entire cost of living (that we didn't have a form of income while in school).
Some other information for you: After leaving school, your malpractice insurance will be extraordinarily inexpensive. Some practicing docs have given me ballpark figures around $2500 - $5000 per year.
Be prepared to work hard if you decide to enter a program. The attrition rate from my class was nearly 40% by the time we had completed our fourth trimester.
It varies from college to college. In Canada, a 4 year D.C. program costs a little over $100,000
