CAN you? Yes. Will it still be wearable? Maybe not. That's why the label says "Dry clean only". Depending on the material and construction, it is sometimes safe to wash a dry-clean-only sweater as long as you wash it very gently, BY HAND, in cool water. Blot it dry with a towel, and lay it flat on a table. Do not hang it or wring it out; the sweater may be stretched out of shape and ruined. Do this when there are no other options. Really, if the label says "Dry clean", then spend the 3 bucks and have it dry-cleaned.
I just took a prom dress to be dry cleaned and they are charging $25.00

To clean graphite grease from curtains, gently rub with a soft eraser to remove excess graphite. Spray on a dry-cleaning solution and apply a dry spotter. Moisten a dry pad with the dry spotter and rub into the dry spotter on the stain. Apply dry spotter to a clean pad and lay on the stain for at least 30-minutes. Spray with the dry-cleaning solvent again and allow to air dry.

Depends on the size of the coat and the price the dry cleaner charges. Why not get one of the home dry cleaning kits for about 10.00 - 15.00 and save about 15.00.

Check the inside tag in your sweater and look for the washing instructions. If it says dry clean, or hang dry and you put it in the dryer most likely it will shrink. Just be aware of your washing directions to keep expensive clothing like Eileen fisher to be in good condition for years to come.
