How much does it cost to install carpet?

[Edit]

It depends on the level of service being provided. For new construction no furniture to move or old flooring to remove, prices in the Northeast are approximately 65 cents per square foot. For replacing residential carpet where the installers are moving furniture and ripping up old carpet prices are approximately $1.00 a square foot. If you are considering purchasing the highest quality carpet, plan to budget for at least $4.50 to $5.50 per square foot. Prices may vary throughout the country.
