A gallon of paint will cover 350 to 400 square feet, so multiply the perimeter times the height (54 X 8) and you'll get 432 square feet, so about a gallon and a quart for one coat. But if you've got several windows and doors in the room, you could very well get away with one gallon per coat.

that question is way to vague. trim, doors windows ceilings all come in to play. the price could be anywhere from 200 to 500 dollars.
