Look up Lumber Yards in your phone book and pay them a visit. Lowes, Home Depot, Builderss Square type places. There are too many variables to provide a short answer. The type of wood, length, use, shape are all factors. A 6' 2x4 can be a couple of bucks, a 10' 2x4 can be closer to ten. Oak and Maple cost a whole lot more than pine and poplar. Sheets of particle board can be a few bucks a sheet while a sheet of veneered finish plywood can cost $50.
