To support his family, Abe Lincoln worked on a neighboring farm. Working denied him the oppertunity to go to school, so the number of formal teaching he received is less then one year. Although his formal teaching ended quickly, he was self taught. He would read everything he could get his hands on. Studying subjects such as mathematics, literature and law. Eventually this self-educated man became a lawyer.
