The safest way to ensure your dog gets adequate nutrition is to follow the feeding instructions on the dog food bag. Ofcourse, you need to weigh you pup first to find the range he/she would fall in. I use Beniful with salmon pieces to add shine to my beagles coat. He weighs ~40 lbs and he gets 3/4th a cup twice a day along with regular walks since he's on a diet. He's lost 1.4 lbs in the past week too! Oh, and I'd recommend planning to feeding your beagle dry dog food only (NO pleople food or soft treats). If you really want to feed your pup something from the fridge, carrots are ideal since they also clean their teeth.
