The practical upper limit is when the patient loses consciousness. Several attempts to quantify pain scales have been made, but they differ depending on other conditions. See pain scale in Wikipedia.

Myself, I use a 5-point scale for ordinary outdoor activities.

1 = barely noticed.

2 = noticed a little but an aspirin suffices. Does not interfere with usual activities.

3 = noticeable pain, and noticeable interference with activities.

4 = severe pain, and considerable difficulty with ordinary activities.

5 = unconscious, or at least unable to perform ordinary activities even with care.

The fear of pain is what an experienced interrogator will aim for, and the degree of real pain may be slight.

The gruesome tortures of the Medieval Period were mainly to satisfy sadism and public display. Schadenfreude is at the mild end of this spectrum.

Not much, Mate. One meteor or bullet and it's pretty much fertilizer time.

Edit by Tanmanknex: Well, it depends on where the damage is taking place and how severe it is. For example, if one person was shot in their hand and another was shot in the head, one would probably survive and the other would probably not. Saying this, almost anything in the back of the head, heart, and the back of the neck is more susceptible to severe injury from damage than other areas.

There is no final accurate measurement for this magnitude. But it still can be measurable to a certain extent. Based on the neurological split second response one person may indicate. Silent or not, you can see the electrical response one may give off.

It depends on the kind of abuse and the physical condition of the body.

Any signs of abuse should be reported immediately to the police so that the appropriate action should be done.
