Britain throws away millions of tons of garbage each year. Much of it ends up in landfill while some is burned or recycled.

This depends on if you throw away all your clippings of veggies and fruit and if you throw out grass clippings and leaves. These would all be thrown in compost piles. -Super Llama

to show how much waste people throw away in their lifetime
That would mainly depend on how much garbage you threw out. For example if you were to throw a candy wrapper on the ground, it wouldn't be the cause for Global Warming, but if you threw a truckload of them on the ground, then it would be much more harmful. I highly doubt that if any single person were to throw a piece of trash on the ground it would cause a lot of pollution, but keep in mind that other people are doing that too and when lots of people do it, then it becomes a problem.
