The amount of hydrocodone needed to result in a dangerous, though not necessarily deadly overdose is highly dependent on tolerance: opioid naive individuals may only need one higher strength (40mg) pill to overdose, whereas a very opioid-tolerant person may need hundreds of milligrams. This can also vary based on other factors of individual physiology.

Abusing painkillers in lower doses also can be highly dangerous and thus strongly discouraged. Risks include addiction, and liver damage from the acetaminophen (500mg) in the pills. The maximum recommended daily dose of acetaminophen is 4000mg, with toxicity manifesting around double that. While this may not be significant for a person with low tolerance (the hydrocodone itself being the major overdose concern in this case) one with a high tolerance may easily exceed the toxic dose of acetaminophen and risk severe health complications.

If you're taking hydrocodone, your biggest concern is the tylenol (acetaminophen) that's in the pills. You shouldn't exceed 2g (2000mg) in a day. It's bad for your liver and can cause respiratory dysfunction and... well, basically, you won't be able to overdose on hydrocodone as a casual recreational drug without first overdosing on tylenol. So, if you're taking 5/500s (5mg hydro / 500mg tylenol), only take four to be absolutely safe... Someone who isn't me has taken 6 or 7 of those without any severe adverse effects. I hope to jeebus you can do basic math from there... The dosages vary... Aim for a maximum of 30mg of narcotic if you're just starting out. Throwing up doesn't necessarily mean overdose. From my experience which is not a lot I have seen that taking between 10 and 15 mg of hydro makes me feel high or in a high state. I have also seen that when I take between 20 and 25 mg of hydro it messes with me bad. I can't fall asleep and get confused worst than when I get drunk or smoke weed. So if your using it recreationally I recommend to stick to 10 and 15 mg of it. Of coarse I'm talking to new users bc if your a daily user you know what you can handle. Once the 10 to 15 doesn't work you could move to 20 but don't exceed 20 this is not because of the hydro content but bc of the acetaminophen content this is why people od. They take to much acetaminophen

No...Its the lowest dose of vicodin...If it makes you feel dizzy or funny I would suggest taking half of one...Break it in half. They are perferated down the middle and easy to break in half by hand.It will do the same work without the weird feeling...GOOD LUCK! =)

It depends on the size of the person, and how used to using hydrocodon they are. However anything above the stated does on the packet is "an overdose" and will cause side-effects.
