This 38 year old piano is worth between $50 and $200 depending upon its condition. The movers will charge about $250 to move it (assuming no steps) and it will cost $60 to $100 to have it tuned (if it can be tuned).

It depends on the condition. It also depends on whether it is an upright or a grand. Pianos are not in great demand these days, but a few people still want them. If it is in really great condition, no damage and plays really well, it is probably worth something like $500 if you are lucky. If it has damage to any of the keys and they don't work, or the wood is scratched, chipped or broken, or if the pedals don't work, it will take a lot away from the value. If you need to get rid of it, you might donate it to a not for profit organization.

Well, I paid $1,700. for a mahogany Kimball baby grand in 1979. It had just been worked over by a restorer but I know it had not been given new strings. It sounded pretty good so I knew it was in proper tune and probably had been regulated and/or voiced. (Again, the bass strings were not as resonant as I would have hoped, but still acceptable. Maybe the problem was this was not a full-sized grand with full-length bass strings.) By serial number the piano was from 1943. Half a dozen or so pins had to be set deeply in the pinblock, but they held their tune better than some.

As to what it would be worth today, that's hard to say. It seems that the older a piano is the less it is considered to be worth. Considering that today's dollars are worth less, then the proper depreciation, assuming the piano has been kept up to be as good as when bought, would call for the same number of 2013 dollars-- about $1,700.00 IF in good tune and NOT in need of regulation or voicing, or hammers, or a pinblock, or strings.

Hope that helps. If you want to ask me more mail lwm at plexipages dot com.

Best,

Leon

How do you find the age of your Kimball Piano the serial number is 443310?

Generally, you will find about a 6 digit number stamped somewhere inside of the piano on the plate. This is the gold part of the piano called the harp. On some Kimball brands, they placed a name plate on the inside SIDE of the piano with the serial number located on that. A piano technician can look up the age but, we need the serial number to do so.

What is the value of 1969 Baldwin piano?

I am in San Antonio, TX and I just paid $400.00 for a 1969 Baldwin. It needs a little attention, about 3 - 5 strings need repair and one white key sticks. I was told by a reputable "piano man" that I was getting this piano as a "gift" at that price just b/c it is a Baldwin. Initially, I thought it might be 20 years old and even then he said that it was not considered "old' at 20. This man said everything on the piano is "fixable'. He said he sells 20yr old Baldwins for $2400.00. The wood on the the right leg is chipped and the bench is chipped, will put a pad on the bench.. Otherwise it looks fine, the keys are not as white as I would like but it is just for my daughter to start to get a feel for the piano.
