It is not worth a lot unless it is made out of copper and does not stick to a magnet.

Depending upon the coin's condition, you may be able to get anywhere from a few pennies to $1 on eBay. If the coin is "brilliant, uncirculated" you may get as much as $30-$50!

In answer #1, above, they refer to the copper content. I have heard coin merchants talking about the color of the penny--the penny being a "nice shade of red". I suppose a high copper content penny may be non-magnetic?

I think you should first look in the phone book of your home town and try to find a coin merchant, or jeweler, to ask, then perhaps try eBay online?

The value depends on the mint mark and condition of the coin. First of all, the Lincoln Wheat Cent in 1944 was produced in three mints: Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.

Philadelphia (no mint mark): Worth about $0.05 in Fine condition and $0.95 in uncirculated MS60 condition. Brillion Uncirculated MS65 can bring in about $2.75.

Denver (small D mint mark): Worth about $0.05 in Fine condition and $0.80 in uncirculated MS60 condition. Brillion Uncirculated MS65 can bring in about $2.75.

San Francisco (small S mint mark): Worth about $0.10 in Fine condition and $0.80 in uncirculated MS60 condition. Brillion Uncirculated MS65 can bring in about $6.55.

Also, there is a rare variety error coin with the D mintmark stamped over the S. This is worth about $100 in Fine condition up to $420 in MS60 condition. An MS65 Brilliant Uncirculated specimen can be worth in excess of $2,000.
