As of early March, the Red Cross had received about 200 million Australian Dollars. More was received by the Salvation Army, the RSPCA and others, including charity concerts etc.
Depends on your coverage. The more coverage, the higher the premiums. You of course would not be alive when it pays out, so you would get nothing yourself.
