I am currently a registered dental hygienist. I completed an associate degree program. To be able to apply to dental school it is recommended that you have a bachelors degree and most schools require 2 chemistry classes with labs, 2 organic chemistry classes with labs, 2 Biology with lab, 1 physics with lab and 2 English composition classes-- they strongly recommend courses in the science field. You will also need to take the DAT. If you are excepted after all that it still another 4 years to become a general dentist and 2- 3 yrs to become a specialist-- ortho-pedo-endo
