Even though amoxicillin is pretty broad based, it may not be the correct drug. If it isn't, you can make the problem worse by administering it and making the bacterial infection more antibiotic resistant.

ā 13y agoThis will vary depending on the formulation of the amoxicillan, the route of administration, if the dog is a senior or has reduced liver or kidney function, etc. Any numerical answer you might receive would be suspect at best.

Normally you would give a dog 5mg per pound/lb. So you could give the dog 500mg, but that could be fatal towards the dog so Iād give it 400-450mg just to play it safe.
