This is from my Female Physiology course for women in their third trimester:

These are approximate amounts of weight gain for the entire body!

-Fetal (~7 lbs.)

-Amniotic Flud (1.5 lbs.)

-Uterus (2.5 lbs.)

-Breasts (1.5 lbs.)

-Water Retention (4 lbs.)

-Blood (4 lbs.)

That totals to about 20.5 lbs. That assumes that you have not gained ANY fat. Which is pretty much impossible since your caloric intake is supposed to increase by 25%. I suppose if you've stayed active its possible to get away with only 20 lbs on your body at the time of giving birth.

The BEST way to lose weight after giving birth is to breastfeed. Mother's milk is filled with sugars and fats that come from your body to feed the baby! Have a healthy baby and lose all that baby weight! That's what I'm going to do ;)
