How much time has elapsed since Creation? In: Creation |
Answer
The consensus of professional scientific organizations worldwide is that no scientific evidence contradicts the age of approximately 4.5 billion years.
Related links, one to Wikipedia ("Creation Science") and to another site (for the article "Cambrian Explosion") are provided for additional answers.
Answer
The consensus of a great many scientists, most certainly the majority, does not make those who disagree with the consensus unprofessional, either in fact or by implication, as many of those who hold a contrary view either about the age of 4.5 billion years or who think that it is 6 to 10,000 years, also have PhD's from the very same institutions.
The majority may be wrong today as they have been in the past when they thought Pasteur was wrong for suggesting that life only comes from life, not non-life (the Law of BioGenesis). Yet, though this Law has never been disproven, many hold illogically that millions and billions of years can miraculously make it happen.
The many facts which are now available that point to a young earth, in line with the Biblical age, exist in this same world of space and time, with those who wish to interpret everything from a humanistic and anti-supernatural framework. This is entirely the free choice available to everyone.
Alternate answer
If the question deals with the creation of "everything" we see, the universe as a whole, the answer is about 13.7 billion years. The earth has been around for 4.5 to 4.6 billion years. Scientific data supports the ideas, and links are provided.
And in another answer we again see the hand of what appears to be a blind follower of religious tenet suggesting the young earth. This mindless ideology smacks of the kind of "faith" displayed at Jonestown. And these zealots who tear at science (because they cannot "bend" science to do their bidding) have an agenda: teaching creation in public schools. Life obviously comes from non-life. We are here. And there was a time when we weren't. Something happened. Uber-intelligent aliens "seeded" the planet? Life arose spontaneously? Life arrived from somewhere else via a space rock? God created everything? What's the answer? As suggested: "this is entirely the free choice available to everyone." Just be sure to think for yourself.
Links are provided and the discussion board has a post or two.
