You could serve 0 if your sentence is commuted or you are pardoned (and you accept) or you could serve to the max of 15 years. Commit further crimes while in prison and you could serve even longer. Most will probably serve less than the full 15 due to time off for good behavior or parole.

It depends on the laws of the state and the severity of the crime,In some states a person can be paroled after serving 3 years of a 15 year sentence,In some states a person can be paroled after serving 5 years,and in some states they require the person to serve 50% of their sentence before they are considered for parole.

A person has to serve 80% of the time sentenced but, when the sentence ends with life you can serve life in jail or be on parole for the remainder of your life ...
