How much food should you give a chihuahua?

It depends on what breed it is. Some will eat anything you give them and therefore overeat. This habit can develope by you only serving your pet specific portions and nothing more until the next schedualed mealtime. This puts your dog in a habit of eating all it is given. If your dog won't overeat then i suggest leaving out a bowl of food all the time. If your dog will, I suggest talking to your vet. He will factor in the breed and size/weight to help you.

Depends on how big they are figure out what the ideal weight is for them and figure out how much they should eat from there. Make sure they are getting exercise my 10lb chihuahua gets a less then a 1/4 cup twice a day.

Typically with Our Chihuahuas we have always left food out (dry) for them - they do have a fenced yard & I would say get regular exercise & all are of a healthy weight. We have 5 & 3 of them are all 4 years old - with the youngest 2 being less than 1 year - we have had all of them since they were 6 weeks of age. I would recommend Beneful as they tend to favor it - they all also get the occasional treat of a Beggin Strip.

put down 1/4 of a cup in the mornings when she/he is done and there's any left pick it up and feed again later about 3 hrs then you can see how much it needs

It eats a tiny bowl of food for breakfast .Then at dinner time around 6:00, feed it a bowl of food again. Do not feed it lunch.serve only two meals a day,no more.i hope this helps!:D
