Cannot be answered with only these measurements. You need to specify what shape the pool is. Also, for a rectangular pool, the length, width and depth are needed. For a round pool, the diameter and depth are needed.

If the pool is round and the diameter is 14 feet with a height of 3 feet:(.785 x 14 squard = 153.86 SQ. FT.) (3 x 153.86 = 461.58 QU. FT.) (7.48 x 461.58 = 3452.6184)

It will take 3,453 gallons to fill your pool.

Answer (1)

180 US / 149 UK gallons per each foot of depth for a rectangular pool. 141 US / 117 UK gallons per each foot of depth for an oval pool. ---- Answer (2)

A UK gallon is 0.160543 cubit feet, and a US gallon is 0.13368 cu ft.

Therefore:-

A circular pool 8 ft in diameter (radius 4ft) has a surface area of pi x r2 = 3.1459 x 16 = 50.26 sq ft. The cubic capacity, to the brim, is 50.26 x 3 ft = 150.8 cu ft., which, divided by the cu. ft of a gallon, equals 939 UK gallons, or 1,128 US gallons. A square pool, with 8ft sides (64 sq ft) and 3 ft deep has a cubic capacity of 64 x 3 = 192 cu. ft., which, again divided by the cu. ft of a gallon, equals 1,196 UK gallons, or 1,436 US gallons. Here's a formula for round pools:

distance across*distance across*depth*5.9

for rectangles:

length*width*depth*7.5

or for a deep end:

length*width*((shallow end depth + deep end depth)/2)*7.5

so in your case, 13*13*3*5.9=3000 gallons

How many gallons of water will it take to fill a 14x42 pool?

You need to know the average depth of the pool. the depth of the deep end plus the depth of the shallow end divided by 2 will give an average. The formula for estimating the gallons of water is in a pool is; length times width times average depth times the multiplier 7.5 for a rectangle pool; 6.7 for a oval or free form pool. with this formula a rectangle pool 14X42 6 feet deep end and 3 feet shallow end will be approx. 19,845 gallons

If there is rust in your water supply how would you clean it to fill a small rectangular plastic pool?

Rust in your water is caused by iron in your water supply. You can get a water softner and use the softened water to fill your pool, or you can fill your pool with the rusty water and use a scale and metal out chemical that you could purchase at any local pool dealer. If you choose to purchase the scale and metal out I would recommend taking a sample of your water so that they can test to find out the level of iron in your water. They then could instruct you on how much of the product you should use to clear your water up.
