There really is not a definitive answer. It was only confirmed in 2008 that the areas of the ice layers that were tested contained water, and not carbon dioxide or other materials. This still does not confirm that the entire layer is water based. There are still others that contend the layer is actually a mineral called mirabilite (Na2SO4 · 10 H2O), which contains water.

There is only very small amounts of water in a gas form in the atmosphere and there has been found that there is water in the ice caps on Mars. There is no liquid water on Mars. But ancient Mars is believed to have as much water as Earth does today, in liquid form.

Yes.Probably the most famous is Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain our solar system. (it's about 16 miles high, but I am not completely sure

There is possibly no land areas on the planet Mars. If there was, scientists would have already discovered it but we do not know.
