There are thousands of meteors, or "shooting stars", every day of the year. It is easier to see them in the pre-dawn hours from about 2AM on. Since most of us aren't up that late (or that early!) we don't often see meteors in the sky.
There is no telling when the next shooting star is. Scientists probably cant even tell. All I know is that I saw 2 shootings stars in my life. They are amazing. Keep an eye out for them and you will see one one day.
A shooting star, or meteor, happens when a piece of space debris (rock), usually about the size of a grain of rice, falls rapidly through earth's atmosphere, heating to the point of incandescence, so we see it as a "streak of light". It happens thousands of times a day, every day, but the vast majority of them go unnoticed.

Thousands of meteors hit the Earth's atmosphere every day. If you go outside on a dark night between about 2 AM and dawn, you will almost certainly see one or more meteors.
There are several known "meteor showers" during which the average number of meteors seen per night can jump by a factor of 10 or 100. Check the link below for the dates. Note that this web page says "2011", but meteor showers come about the same time EVERY year.
Shooting stars, or meteors, are entering our atmosphere all the time, loads every minute. These are the tiny pieces of rock travelling at great speed that then burn up very quickly as a long bright streak in the sky. These are not to be confused with comets, which are large pieces of rock and ice in an elongated orbit around the sun. These can be seen to have tails when they get closer to the sun, but appear to progress very slowly across the sky over several weeks. It is difficult to predict when these comets will come, as they cant easily be seen until they get a lot closer to the sun (and earth).
shooting stars come out usually between 2am and sunrise
Stars never 'go in'. They are always there, it's just that we cant see them past the daylight. Around dusk, when the sun goes down and the sky starts to darken, they become visible.
I believe you can see them almost every night, if you watch long enough and have good visibility.

A shooting star is not what it seem's to sound like. Most people thinks a shooting star is star that's coming to an end but scientists proved that wrong. A "shooting star" is a piece of scrap material that us humans put into space that is coming back into earths atmosphere at an angle which makes it shine very bright and very fast.
There is no opposite, A shooting star is a speck of dust from outer space burning up in the atmosphere from frictional heating.
