There are different opinions: * You are only supposed to feed small turtles every other day, and only give them a little food, until they get older (but when they get older, still only feed them every other day). when you see the food dissapearing faster, feed them a little bit more. * You feed them once a day. You are supposed to feed them about two little sticks (the turtle food) per day. * Feed them at least five times a week.

∙ 17y agoIt depends on what kind of turtle it is. My son had a Box turtle (land turtle) and it had a canned turtle food that we used to scoop out onto a lettuce leaf. The directions were on the can of food. We also gave him lettuce and peeled apple slices. We would put fresh servings of that in there every couple of days. We also looked at red-eared turtles(water turtle) and they eat gold fish and crickets. I think the clerk said they needed to be fed 2 or 3 times a week with that live food.

Well I'm getting a Horsefield tortoise for christmas to. Now I can't tell you everything because it would fill the whole page, but I can give you the basics. You feed it cabbage, lettuce, fruit, that type of thing. And you will need a heat lamp, a tortoise table, stones etc. Now all what I can say is what ever you want to know just type into google, e.g what should a Horsefield Tortoise enclosure have? and your answer will be right infront of you. It depends... you should have a heat lamp. if so, it should be on from 12 am to around 4-5 pm. this will stimulate your tortoise and get it to bask, it is also common for them to sleep while they bask.
