Jeep doesn't include it in its normal service schedules. Every 50,000 miles should be enough.
The filter is located in the pump outlet pipe above the fuel tank. Most often the tank needs to be lowered to replace the filter.
If it has a replaceable filter replace it every 50,000 miles.
This is often from a dead battery.
If it is replaceable then replace it every 75,000 miles.
Diagnostic code 43 in the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee refers to an issue with the distributor. This often causes the Jeep to stall at operating temperature.
It is suggested that the filter be replaced every 8-12 months
