This answer can vary between countries. For example ;

In the United Kingdom, the BBFC ( British Board of Film Classification ) state that " movies rated 'PG' should not disturb a child of about 8 years of age or older; however, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset young or more sensitive children. " Therefore you could argue the age of consent to watch a film is 8 years or older.

Although in the United States of America, the MPAA ( Motion Picture Association of America ) state that " Some material may not be suitable for children under 10. These films may contain some mild language, brief smoking, crude/suggestive humor, scary moments and/or violence. No drug content is present. There are a few exceptions to this rule. "

Therefore both countries having slightly different rulings. This isn't the same as each country has their own personal opinion across the world.

There is no specific age requirement to view a PG-rated movie.

According to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision. The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.

Answer

There is no age restriction for G, PG and PG-13 movies. A child can see a G, PG, or PG-13 movie alone at whatever age their parents feel comfortable with.

The only age restrictions are for R and NC-17 movies. A person under 17 cannot see an R movie without a parent or guardian. No one under 17 can see an NC-17 movie in theatres, even if they bring a parent or guardian with them.

Any age, but it is up for the parents to decide whether or not their little (maybe 4/5) kids should watch it.

But, also watch out for PG-12 films. PG in one corner, 12 in the other. That means the parent decides if you have to be 12 to watch it. Also, the warnings on the back. A typical warning for a PG-12 film is moderate action violence? Some are more serious than others 9 (eg. Matilda is quite mild, containing just mild innuendo, although even that is hard to spot. On the other hand, the complete series one of Primeval contains moderate language, threat, and violence.) I must also point out that as far as I know, no PG film has no warning.

According to Classification and Rating Rules published by the Motion Picture Association of America, Jan 1, 2010:

PG - Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be

Suitable For Children.

A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they

let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of

the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for

their children, and parents should make that decision.

The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for

parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of

PG means Parental Guidance according to the MPAA as originally conceived by Jack Valenti. All ages are admitted to PG films, but parental guidance is suggested. PG-l3 also but it is recommended for kids over l3, as there may be sexual or drug/excessive violence angles of plot. PG there is no problem /. Get up the money pay your fare and enjoy the movie. R requires adult guardian as it is restricted. the Guardian has to accompany the juvenile for the duration of the film. In a sense the movie house profits double from R-films as two admissions are required, the child and adult guardian usually a parent. The now discontinued X was adults over l7 ONLY.

Whenever the parents of the child think that they're ready. Certain PG movies are more inappropriate than others, but if you wantes an actual age, i would say about six or seven. PG is for kids around 6 - 12 it means parental guidence in otherwords you need to have a parent in the room with you at that age to watch the movie.

From Wikipedia:

G - General Audiences (1968-Present)

All ages admitted

No nudity, no drugs, no sex, minimal violence, and limited use of language that goes beyond polite conversation.

PG - Parental Guidance Suggested (1972-Present)

Some material may not be suitable for children (Under 10).

May have mild violence and/or action, mild language and sexual references, brief nudity (revealing attire), intense images, sexual themes and LGBT, crude humor or very mild drug references.

PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned (1984-Present)

Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

May contain moderate language, minimal strong language, some explicit nudity, intense violence, gore, some sex, or mild drug content. This is the highest unrestricted rating.

R - Restricted (1968-Present)

A film with this rating requires a viewer under the age of 17 (18 in some jurisdictions) to have a parent or other adult guardian accompanying the viewer.

May contain very strong language or strong sexual emphasis, strong explicit nudity, strong violence and gore, or strong drug content.

NC-17 rating symbol

NC-17 - "No Children under 17" (1990-Present)

May contain very strong sexual or offensive language, strong explicit nudity, very strong gore or disturbing violence, or graphic drug abuse. Films with this rating can not be watched by anyone under 17 (even if they are accompanied by an adult) and are usually edited to get an "R" rating. Today NC-17 movies are called "uncut" to get verification that very graphic sex or violence scenes will be completely displayed during the film.

If a film is not submitted for rating, the label NR (Not Rated) is used; however, "NR" is not an official MPAA classification. Films as yet unrated by the MPAA, but that are expected to be submitted for rating, are often advertised with the notice "This Film is Not Yet Rated" or, less frequently, "Rating Pending."

Should kids watch a movie for pg thirteen?

it depends how old the kids are! :)

Can you watch a PG rated movie if you are 12?

Well, technically you could watch an R rated movie when you are 5, and with your question, the answer is also yes. If you think you are mature enough to watch a PG movie, then it's up to you.

Can a 8 year old watch pg movies?

Yes, a 4-year-old can watch a PG movie in a theater, alone or with an adult. In both the US and UK, "PG" means Parent Guidance Suggested. Not Parental Guidance Mandatory. Same thing with PG-13 in the US. PG-13 means parents are strongly cautioned about letting a child under 13 see the movie. Again, it does not mean that a parent is required to attend the movie with a child if they're under 13. So you can go to a PG movie (or a PG-13 movie) alone at whatever age your parents feel comfortable with. There's no age restriction for a PG movie, but most parents don't let their 4-year-old children go to the movies by themselves, anyway.

Why children can't look at a pg-13 movie?

Because obviously, it is not appropriate for children to watch. There for it is rated Pg-13.

What movies are rated A that is a horror movie?

There is no movie in existence that is rated A. There is only G, PG, PG-13, and R. You can watch PG-13 movies as long as you are 12 yrs. old, or older. G and PG movies can be seen by anyone, no matter how old you are. For example, Bambi, The Lion King, and Cinderella are all G movies. Kung Fu Panda is rated PG, along with the new movie, Rango. R movies are for people 18 or older. The movies may contain inapropriate violence, or others of that sort.

How old do you have to be to watch a PG-13 movie?

Any age. There are no age restrictions for G, PG and PG-13 movies. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a parent to see a PG-13 movie if you're under 13. PG-13 means parental guidance is suggested for kids under 13. That's "suggested," not "mandatory." The only age restrictions are for R and NC-17 movies.
