You must be 18 years old to adopt a child.
18 if you have no criminal record. so be good. The age when one is eligible to adopt a child is determined by the state law in which the potential adopter lives. However, there are a multitude of factors involved in adoption the least of which is the age requirement.

I'm certain that this condition changes from state-to-state and is also tied into a home-study where it is determined if you have the maturity, and income, (as well as the age), to bring the child up properly.

There is no legal age to have a baby, if you are old enough to get pregnant, you can have a baby.

However, since intercourse is practically the only method, the legal age for consensual sexual relations is the controlling criteria. It is not illegal to have a baby, but it could very well have been illegal to have had sex with the mother.

I do not believe that there's is minimum age, set by law, to adopt. The decision is usually done after extensive study of the prospective future parents and their home environment. In other words it is a "subjective" evaluation of the fitness of the would-be parents rather than simply an age limit test.

In the US you have to be at least 18 but the agencies set the age at 21-25 depending on the state. At 18 only close relatives may adopt as in a older sibling adopting a younger one if the parents die.

In the UK you have to be over 21 and beyond that I think the authority decides if age is a factor

Well I would imagine the minimum age would be 18. However, you'd have to prove that you can care for a child and that you have a stable home for them.
