The age of majority is 18. That's when you're considered a legal adult and you can make all your own decisions. In some cases a minor can be legally emancipated. You would want to contact a family lawyer in New Jersey to ask about this. Otherwise you can't leave home without the consent of your parent or guardian until you are 18-years-old.

∙ 16y agoI'm pretty sure it's 18. When you move out at 18, your parents can call the cops or try other ways to get you back into the house but by law you are considred and adult therefore there is nothing they can do. If you are under 18 and your parents have a problem with you moving out, because they are your legal guardians they can have you forced back into to their home, unless they are abusive are unfit parents... that is when social services takes over.
