How old should you be to have a phone?

There is no specific age requirement to have a cell phone, though a person should have a cell phone if they are under 15 and plan to do things without parent supervision. The average age people get cell phones is 12-13. I think that when they begin doing things on their own, or staying after school for something is a good time, for me it was 10

You guys are lucky I have to wait till I'm 12 just like my sister. We have to get everything at the same time. This does not seem fair because I know how to get a FREE PHONE that is NEW. I bet if she got a deal like that she would get it quicker. Is this fair? I don't think so. Tell me in the space below!

The simple answer is when your child starts doing school activities and going out on their own. A phone is not only a responsibility, it is a way for the parents and child to keep in touch for safety.

The most common age is 11. Some kids get theirs earlier, but most people would say yes to a phone around this age. As a birthday present or Christmas present would be best because just handing them in the middle of the year will make them think you'd get them anything they want. A simple phone is better because they are still young. I used to think getting a child a phone before 16 was just pointless, until my son got lost in the mall.

11 years because of high school but if your child is very mature than give younger i got my first phone at 8 and i didn't use it until 11 i now have a Samsung tocco lite and fully recomend it
