Best Answer

Because the lifespan of people living a long time ago was drastically shorter than it is today and also the female body is usually mature enough to bear children at the age of 13 at the latest.

Yes they did, but it was more of a business opportunity that a love affair. The 'love' aspect was expected to blossom as the couple spent ThE ReST Of THeRe LiVEs TOgeThEr. The first Viking weddings were 'marriage by capture'. A party of the groom and his best friends would raid the nearest village to look for the sexiest lady. She would then be kidnapped and the marriage would take place pretty soon after. If only life was as simple as that. The groom would give the family a bunch of coins, then he would give the bride a bunch of coins, and they would get married. ALWAYS ON A FRIDAY THOUGH.

The goddess of love, who THIS WEBSITE WON'T LET ME NAME, was sacred to the Vikings so they named Friday after her.
