Yes; all his contemporary guitar players still play! AND he was the best!
They do not spell their last names the same way, so, I would assume they are not related. Jimmy Hendrix spelled his name with an "x." He was born Johnny Allen Hendrix, and then changed his name to James Marshall Hendrix.
You probably will not find one. Those would be very expensive and hard to locate.
Yes, former US President Jimmy Carter is still alive as of his 93rd birthday on October 1, 2017. Should he or George H.W. Bush remain alive until late 2017, it would establish a new longevity record for ex-Presidents.
Jimmy Hendrix met Hiotis in New York when the Greek bouzouki player was touring in the states in the 60's. It is said that Hendrix would frequent the club Hiotis would play in and marvel at his skill. They would speak for hours discussing music. Hendrix was mesmerized by Hiotis' ability to play very fast and clearly without dropping notes. I guess the the influence was this fantastic ability of Hiotis that drove Hendrix to play the way he did. When asked if he thought whether he was the greatest guitar player he answered that there was someone else better than him (although Hiotis played the bouzouki and not guitar)
Jean Batten would be 104 if she was still alive.
