Well, the record was 301 miles per hour which was the Moore, Oklahoma tornado of May3, 1999. Other tornadoes may have been stronger as the vast majority of tornadoes never have their winds measured. Tornadoes this strong will wipe houses clean off their foundations and strip asphalt from roads.

The deadliest tornado ever recorded was the Daulatpur-Saturia tornado. This tornado struck Bangladesh on April 26, 1989. Although the exact death toll is unknown it is believed to be approximately 1,300. However, it is very rare for a single tornado to kill even a few dozen people.
