early spring or after the fruit has been picked. completely remove young growth that shoots strait up from side branches and open up the tree to light, without light the tree wont bloom or fruit.

In the U.S. pruning a apricot tree in late August gives it the best chance of avoiding diseases caused by wet conditions at other times of the year. Do not prune them in the winter.
