It needs to answer YOUR reason for wanting to work abroad. I might have MY reasons, but yours would probably be different. A question like that is intended as more of a discussion starter. They're trying to see if you are at all interesting and anything more than a warm lump. Do you have motivations other than taking home money at the end of the pay period? Is there any kind of depth to your education and personality?

There are plenty of people who want to take home a paycheck. What do YOU bring to the party? They're looking for someone who will benefit the company.

How To RespondResponses will, of course vary, but generally you want to respond with an answer that shows real interest in the company while presenting your value to the company. For example, if you are interviewing for a position at a preschool, your response could be "I've always related very well to young children and enjoy providing unique learning experiences for them. I chose your preschool because a friend sent her children here and raved about the program. My abilities will enhance your program and provide a means for my continued growth."

That's not a perfect example, but it provides an idea of the direction to take in answering the question.

Under no circumstances give the impression that you just want a job, even if that's the case.

Be honest. WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A JOB IN THE U.S.? Here's some good reasons: There are more opportunities in the U.S. for the type of work you want. There is a better chance of advancement in your job. The job pays more money than anywhere else. You like that particular State and want to make your home there.
