ANSWER
You can get pregnant almost immediately. This is one of the reasons your health care provider/OB/GYN should have instructed you NOT to have sex for at least 6 weeks, your body is in no way ready physically to handle another pregnancy, this will more than likely put you in the "high risk category". Women are extremely fertile after they have given birth, some will tell you if you are breast feeding that it works as a form of birth control.....DO NOT rely on that alone if you DO NOT want to get pregnant again so quickly! Every woman's body is different and reacts to a pregnancy differently, some can & will get pregnant immediately following a birth, others can try for months and months & not be successful.
Answer
You can get pregnant as soon as you ovulate. But most women don't ovulate for at least a month. But you can get pregnant at anytime. I know a couple that has two kids that are 10 months apart. That would have made her pregnant one month after giving birth.

The answer is right away!!! Don't let that old wives tale about not being able to get pregnant until you get a period or if you are breastfeeding! This is A LIE!!! I have a 6 month old baby ( he will be 6 months tomorrow) and I am 7 weeks pregnant. I was seriously misinformed and now I am going to have 4 children under the age of 6!!! Go figure. But I'm still smiling!
