Urine tests are effective for testing chlamydia, as long as the right test is ordered. A routine urinalysis or urine culture will not detect chlamydia. The specific chlamydia test needs to be ordered.
There is a DNA amplification test that can be performed for chlamydia and gonorrhea on a urine sample. The urine, however, should not be a midstream sample - it should be the first urine that is urinated to get any of the bacteria that were growing in the urethra.

∙ 10y agoNo a drug test cannot tell if you have chlamydia. The only thing it tests for is drugs. STD and HIV are tested for by either blood work or urine test. But the test has to be specified for only STD or HIV. If the urine test is for drugs chlamydia will not show up.
