Generally speakers are plug-and-play. If you have tried that and it didn't work go to your control panel to 'Sounds and Audio Devices' to 'Speaker settings' then 'Advanced' and change the scroll bar to 'Headphones'

∙ 12y agoSome speakers does/does not have any type of recognition to be a speakers, and if your computer find it as headphones you just have to go to the control panel, then on the sound panel and just go on setting and manually change it. There are many options, and you have to make them all fit your needs.

∙ 8y agoUsually, you just plug in the headphones, and that mutes the built-in speakers. If the speakers don't mute, make sure the plug is the right size for the PC's jack (the plug should not have any wiggle when it is plugged in), and that it is plugged in all the way into the jack.
