I go all the way to the bottom of the stem right above ground level and pinch it off there. (or you can use shears). This has worked fine for me for years now and my Gerberas keep producing all summer long!!

By clipping the withered flower off the stem. Scissors, garden shears are examples of tools you can use. You can also pinch the flower off with your fingers.

Once the flower is gone, cut the stem back close to the ground, but leave the leaves intact.
