Then get into the body of why you are there. Are you introducing someone or something, etc.
Crack a joke here or there to keep the audience interest, but make them short and nonoffensive.
No one wants to hear an emcee go on and on and on. Keep your statements short and use as little detail as possible unless it is necessary, of course.
Stay up beat and real, not dull and monotone.
Close with a thank you or a joke and a thank you!
